NERUL: A girl jumped off a local train on Friday and died while undergoing treatment. A suicide note found on her revealed that she had committed suicide as she could not fulfil the expectations of her parents with respect to her education.

The girl has been identified as Ashwini Karkhile, 19, a resident of Sector 1 in Nerul.

A student of BSC, she had left home to go for classes. While travelling in Belapur- Vashi train, she jumped off when the train crossed the Rajiv Gandhi flyover. She was rushed to a hospital. The police found her bag near the railway track. She had lost her legs and was shifted to NMMC Hospital in Vashi. She succumbed to her injuries.

Vashi railway police has registered a case of suicide. From the plastic bag recovered from the spot where she had jumped, police found a note written by her.

Senior police inspector of Vashi railway police station, Nitin Bobde said, “Ashwini had written the letter to her mother. Financial problems and expectations of the family from her had disturbed her.”
