CBD BELPUR: After tightening his administration, municipal commissioner Tukaram Munde has decided to go out and get firsthand information on the issues in the city from residents themselves.

Starting this Sunday, Munde will, along with his officers, meet residents every week at public places like gardens where people come in large number for their morning walk and other recreational activities.

This initiative was started under the ‘Walk with the Commissioner’ drive.

Under this drive, he will at 7 am this Sunday morning go and meet residents at the Sagar Vihar jogging track, sector 15.

“The commissioner will interact with the residents and hold discussions with them on civic issues that concern them,” said deputy municipal commissioner Jagannath Sinnarkar.

“He will get to know their demands and expectations. The residents will get an opportunity to meet the commissioner personally and interact with him,” Jagannath added.

“I am of the view that instead of the residents coming to my office to meet me, it would be better if I myself went and met them,” said Munde.

He added, “My objective is to make Navi Mumbai a modern and smart city based on the suggestions and concepts that the residents give me during the drive.”

He said that he was confidednt that the residents would respond positvely to the initiative.

My main objective is to make Navi Mumbai a modern and smart city based on the suggestions and concepts that the residents give me during the special drive. TUKARAM MUNDE, municipal commissioner
