Family robbed of `3L cash, gold jewellery
NAVI MUMBAI: The Panvel city police have registered a case after unidentified people broke into a house and stole cash and jewellery collectively worth Rs 2.73 lakh from it on Thursday.
According to the police, the complainant- Vimal Mhatre, 55, and his family went out around 9.40 am. On reaching home after around four hours, they realized the theft. They then approached the police and registered an FIR.
“The culprits entered the house by breaking the lock at the main entrance. They found the cash and the jewellery inside a cupboard and ran away with all those,” said one police officer from Panvel city police station.
The police have registered one case under sections 545 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the unidentified culprits. However, they have not been able to make any breakthrough till now.
“We suspect someone who knew that the family was going out, was involved in the crime. We are investigating,” the officer said.
