Family robbed of `3L cash, gold jew­ellery

NAVI MUM­BAI: The Pan­vel city po­lice have reg­is­tered a case af­ter uniden­ti­fied peo­ple broke into a house and stole cash and jew­ellery col­lec­tively worth Rs 2.73 lakh from it on Thurs­day.

Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice, the com­plainant- Vi­mal Mha­tre, 55, and his family went out around 9.40 am. On reach­ing home af­ter around four hours, they re­al­ized the theft. They then ap­proached the po­lice and reg­is­tered an FIR.

“The cul­prits en­tered the house by break­ing the lock at the main en­trance. They found the cash and the jew­ellery inside a cup­board and ran away with all those,” said one po­lice of­fi­cer from Pan­vel city po­lice sta­tion.

The po­lice have reg­is­tered one case un­der sec­tions 545 and 380 of the In­dian Pe­nal Code (IPC) against the uniden­ti­fied cul­prits. How­ever, they have not been able to make any break­through till now.

“We sus­pect some­one who knew that the family was go­ing out, was in­volved in the crime. We are in­ves­ti­gat­ing,” the of­fi­cer said.
