The civic body has said it would refuse to col­lect garbage if it is not seg­re­gated into wet (biodegrad­able) and dry (re­cy­clable) from May 30. The solid waste man­age­ment depart­ment has 69 com­pactors. Around 16,000 bins from so­ci­eties and 600 com­mu­nity bins are lifted daily. It has 50 small tip­pers and 8 green waste col­lec­tion ve­hi­cles.

There are some changes garbage col­lec­tion tim­ings. The NMMC will start col­lect­ing garbage at 6am from Mon­day, in­stead of 7am. Sim­i­larly, the process of me­chan­i­cal sweep­ing that used to start at 6am will be done from 5am to 1pm in zone 1 and from 1pm to 9pm in zone 2.
