Maharashtra Bhavan in city soon: Mhatre
CBD BELAPUR: Almost 18 years after Cidco reserved a 8,000-sqm plot for a Maharashtra Bhavan, the construction work is likely to start soon, local MLA Manda Mhatre said on Tuesday.
She hoped that during her legislative tenure she will see the completion of the construction work.
The bhavan will provide lodging facilities to elected representatives and officials, and promote state’s culture. Local project affected people (PAP), women, selfhelp groups and other organisations will also be allowed to set up shops near the building to boost employment, Mhatre said.
She, along with City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) officials and party leaders, inspected the plot in Sector 30A of Vashi close to the Vashi railway station for the proposed project.
Cidco has allotted plots in the area to several state governments for construction of their state bhavans. “Despite the plot having been reserved years ago, no one has been bothered to have the Bhavan constructed here. It is sad that the plot is being used for parking, functions and festivals,” she said. “I have spoken to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on the construction of the Bhavan by Cidco at the earliest. I am confident that the work will be taken up soon and I will enter the Bhavan during my tenure,” she added.
