Two men bru­tally as­saulted, mur­dered

KALYAN: The watch­man of a hous­ing so­ci­ety at Tit­wala and his cousin were mur­dered and their bod­ies mu­ti­lated by a gang of youth who ac­costed them de­mand­ing money for al­co­hol early on Thurs­day, po­lice said.

The vic­tims, both from Nepal, were strolling on the ground near the hous­ing so­ci­ety where one of them, Raju Su­nar (25), a watch­man, when five youth in their teens who had been drink­ing sur­rounded them and asked them for money.

When Raju and his cousin Madan Su­nar (25) told them they had no money, the youths tried to search their pock­ets.

The two re­sisted and in the scuf­fle Raju hit one of the at­tack­ers, Anil Pateniya, 19, on the head with a brick, said se­nior po­lice in­spec­tor from Tit­wala po­lice sta­tion, V And­hale.

Pateniya, who works with t he Ul­has­na­gar Mu­nic­i­pal Cor po­ra­tion on a con­tract ba­sis, started bleed­ing and then he and his friends pulled out knives and carved up the two vic­tims, po­lice said.

They mu­ti­lated the bod­ies, smash­ing in the faces with stones and cut­ting off the gen­i­tals of one of them.

The five --Hardiks­ingh Gill, Ram Dem­bani (18), Raj Shir­vani (18), and a mi­nor aged 14 years, be­sides Pateniya – then fled the scene, po­lice said. The youth are known his­tory-sheeters, po­lice said.

The two vic­tims were taken to a nearby hospi­tal af­ter a res­i­dent of the hous­ing so­ci­ety alerted the po­lice but were de­clared dead on ar­rival.

“We im­me­di­ately con­ducted a naka­bandi in all ar­eas. Around 7am, we saw two boys, Pateniya and the mi­nor boy, head­ing t owards Ul­hasna g ar near Tit­wala junc­tion. We no­ticed that one of them had blood stains on his shir t , ” said And­hale.

The po­lice man­aged to catch the mi­nor but Pateniya fled on a bike but was chased down.

The oth­ers were ar­rested a short while later.



The spot at Radha Na­gar in Kalyan’s Mahral vil­lage where the two youths were at­tacked and killed by a group of five men.
