SANPADA: Cidco undertook demolition action against a building in Sanpada area on Tuesday.

Ahilyabai Bhoir had constructed the building in sector 5 through a 50-50 partnership with a developer. Cidco termed the four-storey building illegal and demolished it claiming it is on Cidco land.

Present for the demolition drive were Cidco executive engineer AB Rasal, assistant executive engineer SS Gatkal, Controller of unauthorised constructions official PB Rajput, assistant CUC SS Chidchale, assistant officer VK Khadse and senior police inspector of Sanpada police station Krishna Hodge apart from 80 officers and personnel who were supported by Cidco security personnel.

Earlier on April 3, 2012, another building had been constructed illegally on the same survey number 66. At the time too, demolition action had been carried out here by Cidco official Anil Patil.

The PAP action committee and local villagers had then opposed the action. The PAP action committee had raised the issues of city survey, village limits, need based houses etc. Hence, this time round, Cidco and police officials came prepared for any opposition.

Cidco senior public relations officer Mohan Ninawe said, “Bhoir had constructed an illegal building here earlier. Notice had then been issued and the building was demolished. Another illegal building came up at the same spot. So, Cidco had on June 24, 2015 issued a legal notice against it.”

He added, “The demolition action was taken on Wednesday as per the orders of the high court.”
