Two mi­nors among three held for steal­ing two-wheel­ers

CBD BE­LA­PUR: The Navi Mum­bai crime branch has ar­rested a no­to­ri­ous ve­hi­cle thief, lead­ing to the re­cov­ery of seven stolen mo­tor­cy­cles.

The ac­cused has been iden­ti­fied as Mo­hammed Has­san Muchchda, 28, a res­i­dent of Azad Na­gar in Mum­bra-Kausa.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice com­mis­sioner He­mant Na­grale, “A Ba­jaj Pul­sar mo­tor­cy­cle had been stolen from the park­ing area out­side Jui Na­gar rail­way sta­tion. The case was be­ing in­ves­ti­gated by crime branch unit 3.”

He added, “The team man­aged to get Muchchda who is part of a gang that spe­cialises in ve­hi­cle thefts on May 27. His in­ter­ro­ga­tion re­vealed that he com­mit­ted the crime along with two mi­nors, both res­i­dents of Kausa-Mum­bra. The duo were de­tained on June 1.”

Na­grale said, “We re­cov­ered seven mo­tor­cy­cles worth Rs3.6 lakh. These in­clude ve­hi­cles stolen from ju­ris­dic­tions of Nerul po­lice sta­tion, Mum­bra po­lice sta­tion, Shanti Na­gar po­lice sta­tion, Mum­bai RCF po­lice sta­tion and Shirdi po­lice sta­tion.

“The ac­cused would change the reg­is­tra­tion numbers of the ve­hi­cles and sell them to peo­ple. They would state that they will give the doc­u­ments in a few days.” He added, “Two of the mo­tor­cy­cles we have re­cov­ered have the same reg­is­tra­tion num­ber which the ac­cused had put up.”

Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing more such crimes com­mit­ted by the gang.
