Cases filed against 8 for il­le­gal con­struc­tions

KOPAR KHAIRANE: The Navi Mum­bai Mu­nic­i­pal Cor­po­ra­tion (NMMC) has in­ten­si­fied its drive against il­le­gal con­struc­tions and en­croach­ments in the city.

Apart from un­der­tak­ing antien­croach­ment and de­mo­li­tion drives, the NMMC has be­gun fil­ing po­lice cases against the vi­o­la­tors.

Cases have been filed against eight per­sons and or­gan­i­sa­tions in Kopar Khairane for de­fac­ing the city and other vi­o­la­tions un­der the MRTP Act.

“Af­ter anti-en­croach­ment drive at FAM so­ci­ety in Kopar Khairane, po­lice cases have been filed. The drive will be con­tin­ued,” said Ja­gan­nath Sin­narkar, deputy mu­nic­i­pal com­mis­sioner, NMMC.

The NMMC was crack­ing the whip against vi­o­la­tors af­ter mu­nic­i­pal com­mis­sioner Tukaram Mundhe’s or­ders.

“In Kopar Khairane, po­lice cases have been filed against Ak­shay Korde, Misal House, Swami Vivekanand Ju­nior Col­lege of Sci­ence and Com­merce for putting up il­le­gal ban­ners and de­fac­ing pub­lic prop­erty,” he in­formed.

Ra­jit Ye­ole, Pand­har­i­nath Shinde, Dnanesh­war Konde, Asha Savkhede, Ramd­hyan Singh and res­i­dents of SS2-type build­ings in Sec­tor 4, 6 and 18 have been booked un­der MRTP Act 1966 for vi­o­la­tions re­lated to con­struc­tion, Sin­narkar said.

The com­mis­sioner also asked all ward of­fi­cers to keep the area en­croach­ment free.
