MAYOR NOT HAPPY WITH NULLAH-CLEAN­ING WORK, TELLS OF­FI­CIALS TO SPEED UP

CBD BELAPUR: Mayor Sud­hakar Son­awane un­der­took a pre-mon­soon visit of Belapur con­stituency on Fri­day to check to NMMC’s pre­pared­ness. Fol­low­ing the visit, Son­awane said that he is not sat­is­fied with the nullah clean­ing work and it needs to be com­pleted at the ear­li­est.

Son­awane who started his visit from CBD Belapur also vis­ited Sea­woods, Nerul, Turbhe, Vashi and San­pada ar­eas. Son­awane said, “Nul­lahs in San­pada and Nerul ar­eas need more work to be done. Over­all there are de­fi­cien­cies and they need to be taken care of.”

He said, “I have spo­ken to the of­fi­cials on the is­sue and in­structed that all the work be com­pleted at the ear­li­est.”

Son­awane said that he will in­spect the Airoli con­stituency ar­eas on Mon­day.

Mean­while, NMMT chair­man Sabu Daniel was up­set over lack of ad­e­quate re­sponse from the civic of­fi­cials to mayor’s visit.

Daniel said, “De­spite know­ing about his visit, only some of­fi­cials turned up. At sev­eral places, we re­peat­edly had to ask for gut­ter cov­ers to be opened but the con­trac­tors were not avail­able.”
