An autorickshaw driver was killed by another rickshaw driver over parking issues at Titwala on Saturday. The accused, Akash Tawde, 26, is still at large. The deceased Ramesh Kene, 28, knew Tawde well as both were residents of Titwala.

On Saturday, Kene and Tawde parked their autorickshaws at Gaondevi temple stand at Titwala. Kene took his autorickshaw in front of Tawde’s to get passengers first.

An argument broke out. Other autorickshaw drivers intervened and pacified them. But later, Tawde took his autorickshaw ahead of Kene’s. Tawde took out a sharp object and attacked Kene. A crowd had gathered but no one intervened. “No one stopped Tawde while he was attacking Kene. Kene started bleeding profusely. Tawde ran away from the spot,” said Venkat Andhale, senior police inspector from Titwala police station.

Kene was taken to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Andhale said: “We are yet to arrest Tawde and seize the weapon. We have charged Tawde under section 302 of the IPC.”
