District officials to adopt Thane schools
THANE: The officials from the district collectorate and zilla parishad have decided to adopt zilla parishad schools.
The move will help improve the quality of education in the zilla parishad schools.
The officials will spend one day a week in the schools they have adopted and look into the educational issues of the schools.
The state has undertaken the educationally progressed Maharashtra initiative which aims at upgrading the standard of education in schools and increasing the capabilities of the students.
District collector Mahendra Kalyankar said: “Under the scheme, the officers from collectorate and zilla parishad from every grade has decided to take up the educational responsibility of students in zilla parishad schools. We will adopt two to three schools each. The officials will go to their adopted schools one day every week. They will spend the day interacting with the students and the teachers.”
Earlier, school visits from district officials ensured that the schools are cleaned, the students wear clean and ironed uniform and classrooms are pasted with informative material.
The officials will understand the drawbacks of the schools and work to solve them.
The officials will also take few lessons for students during the visits.
They will talk to each student and also help them to cope with the difficulties they face in learning.
Kalyankar added, “The aim is to ensure that all the students get quality education. None of the students should be deprived of it or lag behind. I myself will visit some schools along with the deputy collector and help the students with their studies.”
