District of­fi­cials to adopt Thane schools

THANE: The of­fi­cials from the district col­lec­torate and zilla parishad have de­cided to adopt zilla parishad schools.

The move will help im­prove the qual­ity of ed­u­ca­tion in the zilla parishad schools.

The of­fi­cials will spend one day a week in the schools they have adopted and look into the ed­u­ca­tional is­sues of the schools.

The state has un­der­taken the ed­u­ca­tion­ally pro­gressed Ma­ha­rash­tra ini­tia­tive which aims at up­grad­ing the stan­dard of ed­u­ca­tion in schools and in­creas­ing the ca­pa­bil­i­ties of the stu­dents.

District col­lec­tor Ma­hen­dra Kalyankar said: “Un­der the scheme, the of­fi­cers from col­lec­torate and zilla parishad from ev­ery grade has de­cided to take up the ed­u­ca­tional re­spon­si­bil­ity of stu­dents in zilla parishad schools. We will adopt two to three schools each. The of­fi­cials will go to their adopted schools one day ev­ery week. They will spend the day in­ter­act­ing with the stu­dents and the teach­ers.”

Ear­lier, school vis­its from district of­fi­cials en­sured that the schools are cleaned, the stu­dents wear clean and ironed uni­form and class­rooms are pasted with in­for­ma­tive ma­te­rial.

The of­fi­cials will un­der­stand the draw­backs of the schools and work to solve them.

The of­fi­cials will also take few lessons for stu­dents dur­ing the vis­its.

They will talk to each stu­dent and also help them to cope with the dif­fi­cul­ties they face in learn­ing.

Kalyankar added, “The aim is to en­sure that all the stu­dents get qual­ity ed­u­ca­tion. None of the stu­dents should be de­prived of it or lag be­hind. I my­self will visit some schools along with the deputy col­lec­tor and help the stu­dents with their stud­ies.”
