This was also the first standing committee meeting since the new municipal commissioner Tukaram Mundhe (right) took office. Speaking at the end of the meeting, Mundhe said, “It is very important that there is consensus in the meeting. Debates can take place over issues. However, there is a need to maintain decorum and don’t hurt anyone personally.” He said, “I take two things into consideration – public interest and legality. If these two are satisfactory, then I go ahead with a proposal. I have asked my officials too to follow this rule.”

Mundhe added, “If there is cooperation from all sides, we will be able to do good work. Raking up the past will not do much good. Of course, if three-year-old tenders are put forward now, then it is certainly not good.”
