ROADS, FOOTPATHS GET MORE SPACE
Within a week of taking charge, Mundhe ensured that the encroachments on the Thane-Belapur Road that had prevented the road widening in the 400 m stretch for the past eight years, were cleared. Traffic in the area which was earlier a bottleneck, is now flowing freely.
Illegal construction above Landmark hotel in sector 20 of Turbhe and internal changes were demolished. In Karave village, the third and fourth floors of three buildings were demolished and police cases filed against the owner and the developer.
Anti-encroachment drive was undertaken at Shanti, Vinbro, Parichay, Vasundhara, Citrus hotels and bars.
In Nerul 16 open ground around 700 to 800 sqft construction was demolished.
Nine chawls at sector 38 of Karave were demolished along with illegal garages.
Over 100 shanties in sensitive areas like Tatanagar, Belapur and Ramesh metal quarry were demolished. Action was taken against marginal space violation by 18 shops near NRI colony entrance.
Hawkers on both side of Nerul railway station have been removed. Strict action has been taken against marginal space violation, hawkers and weather sheds at establishments in Belapur, Nerul, Vashi and Turbhe areas.
Over 40 places where stilt parking was being used for commercial or residential purpose, have been cleared. It has enabled vehicles that were being parked on roads to be now parked at their designated places.
