APMC: The Navi Mum­bai crime branch has res­cued 4 women and ar­rested 4 peo­ple fol­low­ing a raid on Sa­gar Krupa Guest House in APMC. The ac­cused al­legedly ran a pros­ti­tu­tion racket at the lodge. The raid comes just 10 days af­ter an­other raid was con­ducted in Ma­hape last Mon­day.

The raid was con­ducted by the Im­moral Hu­man Traf­fick­ing Preven­tion cell (IHTPC) of the crime branch.

Ac­cord­ing to the deputy com­mis­sioner of police (crime), Dilip Sawant, “Police com­mis­sioner He­mant Na­grale has given strict in­struc­tions to root out il­le­gal ac­tiv­i­ties in lodges in Navi Mum­bai. We re­ceived spe­cific in­for­ma­tion from a Gore­gaon-based NGO In­ter­na­tional Jus­tice Mis­sion.”

He said, “We learnt that the per­son who ran Sa­gar Krupa Guest House lo­cated in sec­tor 19E of APMC area, its man­ager and wait­ers, ran a pros­ti­tu­tion racket.”

Sawant then asked se­nior police in­spec­tor of IHTPC, Anand Cha­van to take ac­tion in the mat­ter with the help of the NGO.

Sawant said, “A raid was then con­ducted on the lodge on Wed­nes­day at 5.30pm. We res­cued four women. We also ar­rested four per­sons.”

The ac­cused have been iden­ti­fied as Rat­nakar Shetty, 43, who runs the lodge, Vi­nay Ya­dav, 29, the man­ager and waiter Ramku­mar Ya­dav, 24, and Kulesh­war Ya­dav, 35.

The ac­cused have been booked un­der IPC sec­tion 370 along with Preven­tion of Im­moral Traf­fic Act (PITA) sec­tions 3, 4, 5.

“We will be con­duct­ing more such raids in the com­ing days, to root out the men­ace,” said Sawant.
