POLICE BUST FLESH TRADE RACKET, ARREST FOUR WOMEN
APMC: The Navi Mumbai crime branch has rescued 4 women and arrested 4 people following a raid on Sagar Krupa Guest House in APMC. The accused allegedly ran a prostitution racket at the lodge. The raid comes just 10 days after another raid was conducted in Mahape last Monday.
The raid was conducted by the Immoral Human Trafficking Prevention cell (IHTPC) of the crime branch.
According to the deputy commissioner of police (crime), Dilip Sawant, “Police commissioner Hemant Nagrale has given strict instructions to root out illegal activities in lodges in Navi Mumbai. We received specific information from a Goregaon-based NGO International Justice Mission.”
He said, “We learnt that the person who ran Sagar Krupa Guest House located in sector 19E of APMC area, its manager and waiters, ran a prostitution racket.”
Sawant then asked senior police inspector of IHTPC, Anand Chavan to take action in the matter with the help of the NGO.
Sawant said, “A raid was then conducted on the lodge on Wednesday at 5.30pm. We rescued four women. We also arrested four persons.”
The accused have been identified as Ratnakar Shetty, 43, who runs the lodge, Vinay Yadav, 29, the manager and waiter Ramkumar Yadav, 24, and Kuleshwar Yadav, 35.
The accused have been booked under IPC section 370 along with Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act (PITA) sections 3, 4, 5.
“We will be conducting more such raids in the coming days, to root out the menace,” said Sawant.
