NMMC seals eateries, food court at Raghuleela Mall
STRICT ACTION Sends notices to 907 restaurants and hotels for not complying with licence norms
VASHI: The city’s eateries and restaurants are facing the municipal corporation heat.
After Navi Mumbai Municipal commissioner Tukaram Mundhe ordered action against illegal constructions and establishments, officials on Saturday sealed all 14 eateries in the food court at Raghuleela Mall at Sector 30 A of Vashi.
Four restaurants and fast food joints near the mall that were sealed includes Mideast & More, Kerala Food Express, Riso Veg Italian Kitchen and Rockville Deli.
Many top civic officials were present when the eateries in the food court of Raghuleela mall were sealed.
The food court that was buzzing with the weekend crowd soon wore a deserted look.
Trupti Sandbhor, deputy municipal commissioner (licence), said they have clamped down on errant restaurants. “The eateries had been operating for the last several years without having the requisite licences. Some didn’t have NMMC eatery licence, others NOC from the fire department and some from the Food and Drug Administration,” she said.
The raid is part of a larger action that NMMC plans to take. Sandbhor said, “Notices have been issued to 907 restaurants and hotels, sweet marts, cake shops, ice cream parlour
and other such eateries in the city for not complying with the licence norms.”
She added, “We will be acting against them as well in the coming days.”

too have been sealed at Shivaji Chowk and sector 15 in Vashi apart from other places.
On Friday night, the officials had removed bamboo encroachments outside Inorbit mall and also additional temporary structures put in the Atrium mall.
