Mundhe reaches out to Vashi residents
VASHI: Municipal commissioner Tukaram Mundhe’s ‘Walk with the commissioner’ received an overwhelming response in Vashi, on Saturday, with a large number of residents turning up to jog and talk with him.
Mundhe reached Vashi’s mini seashore at sector 10A at 6.15am, 15 minutes before the schedule time taking most of his officials off guard. He then jogged around the pond with the residents before hearing the issues.
The residents spoke to Mundhe on issues of water supply, hygiene, encroachments, parking, roads and footpaths, construction of utility buildings, beautification, gardens, drainage lines, toilets, health, and transportation.
Said Mundhe, “The residents have raised local issues that affect them. Unlike other nodes, Vashi is a developed node with a large upper middle class population and hence they have additional issues.”
He added, “I assured them that we will take action within seven days on issues that can be tackled immediately. For the long-term ones, we will take policy decisions and act at the earliest.”
He added, “We have taken some decisions right here. There was a complaint of motor use, that prevented 24x7 water supply in an area. We got the motors removed right now.”
Mundhe told the residents, “To save you the trouble of coming to all the way to NMMC headquarters, we have equipped and empowered our ward offices to take decisions on matters.”
He added, “We have taken up large-scale use of information technology to provide maximum online services.”
