State intervenes after SSC topper fails to find name in first merit list
Traffic police officers fill potholes on the Sion hospital flyover on Wednesday.
The state school education department will help Secondary School Certificate (SSC) topper Sakshi Rajwani, whose name was not included in the first merit list, despite scoring 99.8%, because of a technical error in her online form. The state has decided to secure admission for Rajwani to Vaze Kelkar College, Mulund, through the management quota.
Rajwani, a student of Sacred Heart School, Kalyan, was not allotted a seat after an error occurred while she was submitting her application form, leaving it blank.
The error threatened to cost her an academic year because the education department refused to allow her to correct the form after the June 22 deadline. However, after reading reports of her plight, education minister Vinod Tawde intervened on Wednesday.
“I instructed the deputy directorate of education to allow her to fill the online registration form. The department will help her secure admission in the management quota,” said Tawde.
