Teenagers held for steal­ing mo­bile phones

The Ra­bale po­lice have ar­rested a teenaged boy and girl for steal­ing mo­bile phones for the past sev­eral months.

Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice, the 16-year-old boy and the 14-yearold girl live in a slum in Ra­bale. They would roam around in the city and steal mo­bile phones from houses. The po­lice have re­cov­ered 31 stolen mo­bile phones, in­clud­ing 10 high-end ones from them.

“Our pa­trolling teams spot­ted the two roam­ing around on Mon­day night and asked them about their ad­dresses. They were un­able to give proper replies. Our of­fi­cers de­tained them,” said San­tosh Kat­wal, as­sis­tant po­lice in­spec­tor from Ra­bale po­lice sta­tion. “Dur­ing in­ter­ro­ga­tion, the two confessed that they had stolen many mo­bile phones in the past six months. We re­cov­ered the stolen phones. They were plan­ning to sell them in Mumbai,” he added.

An­other 21-year-old man, who was also in­volved in the crime, is ab­scond­ing. The two were sent to a re­mand home in Mumbai.
