A few days after he was demoted from the post of additional municipal commissioner, Sanjay Pattiwar resigned from the NMMC.

He had been demoted to his former post of medical officer of health by municipal commissioner Tukaram Mundhe.

Pattiwar’s resignation was confirmed by NMMC officials. He had recently been facing allegations over civic hospital related activities.

He has also come in flak for the PPP agreement with Hiranandani – Fortis that NMMC had entered into.

Last month, Mundhe demoted Pattiwar stating the post of additional municipal commissioner has not yet been sanctioned by the state government. He had stated that he will be reinstated once the sanction comes.

Pattiwar has been holding on to the post since 2006 with sources saying that the posting was politically influenced.

Pattiwar has been embroiled in several controversies. There is reportedly an atrocity case against him too.

He had also come in for criticism in the standing committee lately, with Shiv Sena corporator MK Madhvi raking up the controversies that Pattiwar has been involved in.
