6 rob­bers ar­rested, `12L prop­erty seized

The Vashi po­lice have busted a gang of rob­bers who used to rob houses. The po­lice have re­cov­ered stolen prop­erty worth Rs11.86 lakh from them.

Four among the ar­rested six gang mem­bers are be­tween 20 and 25 years. The gang leader is 25 years old.

Fol­low­ing a tip-off on June 29, the Vashi po­lice led by se­nior po­lice in­spec­tor Ajayku­mar Landge laid a trap at Vashi gaon sub­way and ar­rested San­jay Ti­wari, 35, Ki­ran Ka­jwa, 23, Prathmesh Narkar, 20, Ka­mal­jeet Tal­war, 36, and Raees Shaikh, 25.

Giv­ing de­tails at a press con­fer­ence on Tues­day, deputy com­mis­sioner of po­lice Zone I Prashant Khaire said, “In­ter­ro­ga­tion of the ac­cused re­vealed that these are no­to­ri­ous crim­i­nals in­volved in sev­eral house break-ins.”

Khaire said, “They would move around in a car and bikes to com­mit the crime.”

Khaire said, “We have suc­ceeded in solv­ing five crimes in NRI, Kharghar and Nerul ar­eas. There is one crime com­mit­ted in Vakola po­lice sta­tion area as well. They could be in­volved in more crimes, which we are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.”

The po­lice have re­cov­ered 11 tola gold jew­ellery, sil­ver ware, Rs26,000 cash, eight mon­i­tors, seven lap­tops, three LED tele­vi­sion sets, a cam­era and a mo­bile phone. The goods are col­lec­tively worth Rs5.86 lakh.

The po­lice have also seized the Swift car worth Rs6 lakh that was used in the crime, weapons, screw­drivers and span­ners.
