6 robbers arrested, `12L property seized
The Vashi police have busted a gang of robbers who used to rob houses. The police have recovered stolen property worth Rs11.86 lakh from them.
Four among the arrested six gang members are between 20 and 25 years. The gang leader is 25 years old.
Following a tip-off on June 29, the Vashi police led by senior police inspector Ajaykumar Landge laid a trap at Vashi gaon subway and arrested Sanjay Tiwari, 35, Kiran Kajwa, 23, Prathmesh Narkar, 20, Kamaljeet Talwar, 36, and Raees Shaikh, 25.
Giving details at a press conference on Tuesday, deputy commissioner of police Zone I Prashant Khaire said, “Interrogation of the accused revealed that these are notorious criminals involved in several house break-ins.”
Khaire said, “They would move around in a car and bikes to commit the crime.”
Khaire said, “We have succeeded in solving five crimes in NRI, Kharghar and Nerul areas. There is one crime committed in Vakola police station area as well. They could be involved in more crimes, which we are investigating.”
The police have recovered 11 tola gold jewellery, silver ware, Rs26,000 cash, eight monitors, seven laptops, three LED television sets, a camera and a mobile phone. The goods are collectively worth Rs5.86 lakh.
The police have also seized the Swift car worth Rs6 lakh that was used in the crime, weapons, screwdrivers and spanners.
