The health department of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has given notice to all private practitioners running operating independent clinics and dispensaries to register themselves with the corporation.

All clinics or dispensaries will be registered under the Bombay Nursing Home Registration Act1949.

The last date for registration is September 30.

Officials said that till now only the hospitals and nursing homes were required to be registered but the rule has now been extended to the private clinics and dispensaries as well.

The notice was sent around a month ago and a time period of 90 days has been given to complete the registration process.

“The registration of all clinics and dispensaries is necessary to prevent any bogus activities by the medical practitioners,” said Dr Ramesh Nikam, assistant health officer (in-charge), health department of NMMC.

To complete the procedure, the clinics and dispensaries need to submit their academic certificates and clinic details which will be verified by the municipal corporation.

“Once we check and cross check the documents, we will register them under the act and provide them registration numbers,” said the assistant health officer.
