Bur­glars break into doc­tor’s house, steal cash and jew­ellery

The po­lice have reg­is­tered a case af­ter some uniden­ti­fied peo­ple broke into a doc­tor’s house in Ghan­soli and stole cash and jew­ellery worth Rs6 lakh on Thurs­day.

Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice, San­jay Jash­want Mha­tre, 44, lives with his fam­ily at Ma­haveer Var­sha CHS at Sec­tor 6. On Thurs­day night, the cul­prits en­tered the house through the main en­trance and ran away with the cash and the jew­ellery.

The Mha­tres found out the theft on Thurs­day morn­ing and then in­formed the po­lice. The po­lice have reg­is­tered a case un­der sec­tions 457 and 380 of the In­dian Pe­nal Code (IPC) against the uniden­ti­fied cul­prits.

“We have also in­ter­ro­gated some peo­ple based on sus­pi­cion. How­ever, no one has been ar­rested so far. We think some­one who was close to the fam­ily, is in­volved in the crime. We hope to solve the case very soon,” said one po­lice of­fi­cer from Ra­bale po­lice sta­tion.

Ac­cord­ing to the crime branch of­fi­cials, the ju­ris­dic­tion of the Ra­bale po­lice sta­tion is one of the worst-af­fected ar­eas as far as bur­glar­ies are con­cerned.

A to­tal of 245 bur­glar­ies were reg­is­tered in the city in the first six months of this year, of which, the po­lice de­tected 116 cases.
