Burglars break into doctor’s house, steal cash and jewellery
The police have registered a case after some unidentified people broke into a doctor’s house in Ghansoli and stole cash and jewellery worth Rs6 lakh on Thursday.
According to the police, Sanjay Jashwant Mhatre, 44, lives with his family at Mahaveer Varsha CHS at Sector 6. On Thursday night, the culprits entered the house through the main entrance and ran away with the cash and the jewellery.
The Mhatres found out the theft on Thursday morning and then informed the police. The police have registered a case under sections 457 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the unidentified culprits.
“We have also interrogated some people based on suspicion. However, no one has been arrested so far. We think someone who was close to the family, is involved in the crime. We hope to solve the case very soon,” said one police officer from Rabale police station.
According to the crime branch officials, the jurisdiction of the Rabale police station is one of the worst-affected areas as far as burglaries are concerned.
A total of 245 burglaries were registered in the city in the first six months of this year, of which, the police detected 116 cases.
