Mumbra bypass a danger zone
The Mumbra bypass — whose potholes endanger commuters — has turned dangerous for commuters on the road below.
The standing committee of the Thane Municipal Corporation said on Friday that the route’s water outlet gushes on to the road with force, injuring people.
The authority had made small outlets on the bypass, from where water, mud and stones are expelled during the monsoon. There is no pipeline through which the water can flow smoothly.
“The bypass develops potholes every monsoon. This year, due to water flowing from the outlet, a biker met with an accident recently,” said Balaji Kakade, member of the standing committee.
“We have removed ward-wise tenders for pothole filling and have started work in Mumbra and Kalwa simultaneously,” said a civic official, requesting anonymity.
