Municipal commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has taken steps to provide efficient medical services to citizens.
The measures include providing additional staff for direct home services of providing vaccinations, family planning awareness, combating tuberculoses etc. He has ordered the appointment of 161 link workers on contract basis in the health department. A total of 26 staff nurses have also been appointed on scale based contract system.
Twenty-one doctors specialising in various fields have been appointed on contract basis to provide quality medical services and ensure that the patients are not denied any treatment. These include gynaecologist, orthopaedics, dentists, paediatrician etc.
The health department has cancelled the appointment of some doctors for posts that had been made by the general body. The sanctions had not yet come from the government.
Mundhe said, “The appointments on contract basis have been done to provide people-friendly health services. The changes have been made to ensure that no rules are violated.”
