32-year-old man, his parents get life sentence for killing wife STRANGLED HER IN 2012
The Mumbai sessions court recently sentenced a 32-year-old man and his parents to life imprisonment for killing his wife four years ago. The Kalamboli police received the order on Wednesday.
The police arrested Sumitkumar Yadav, his father Akhilesh, 66, and mother Sunita, 58, in April 2012 after they allegedly strangled Sumit’s wife, Madhu to death. They were booked under sections 302, 304b, 498 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Sumit and Madhu tied the knot in early 2011, but they did not have a smooth married life.
“Sumit and his parents suspected that the Madhu had an extramarital affair with someone from the neighbourhood. They were also unhappy as Madhu’s parents had not arranged the wedding according to their wishes,” said PR Popede, senior police inspector of Kalamboli police station.
The accused had also asked for an expensive car from her parents. When her parents did not give a positive answer, they started torturing her physically and mentally. On April 17, 2012, they strangled her to death following a quarrel.
“Our officer meticulously collected all the evidences of the crime and submitted them to the court. The court has sentenced all three of them to life imprisonment. The accused can move the Bombay high court,” Popede said.
