Cidco executive engineer held for taking Rs15K bribe
The anti corruption bureau of Navi Mumbai unit arrested an executive engineer of Cidco for allegedly taking Rs15,000 bribe on Friday.
According to the ACB officials, Arun Aahir, 56, had demanded the cash from a civil contractor for sanctioning his bill. He was arrested red-handed while taking the money at the Cidco nodal office in Kharghar’s Sector 4.
“The contractor had taken the contract of cleaning drains and painting dividers at the node. After finishing his work, he submitted a bill of Rs1.50 lakh at the Cidco office. The accused asked for the bribe to sanction that bill,” said Vishal Jadhav, ACB inspector.
“After the complainant approached us, we asked him to go head according to our plans. He went the accused’s office with money given by us and we managed to arrest the accused red-handed while accepting those notes on Friday,” another officer said.
A first information report (FIR) has been registered with the Kharghar police station against the accused.
He has been booked under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. He will be produced before the juridical court on Saturday.
