Flesh racket busted, lodge man­ager ar­rested

The Vashi police have ar­rested the man­ager of the lodge on Wed­nes­day, for al­legedly run­ning flesh trade.

Act­ing on a tip-off, the police raided Dar­shan lodge at Sec­tor 11 in Juhugaon and made the ar­rest. A woman, who was forced into pros­ti­tu­tion by the ac­cused, has been res­cued.

“We re­ceived in­for­ma­tion that a flesh racket was be­ing run from the lodge. We sent two of our of­fi­cers pos­ing as cus­tomers. After get­ting con­firmed re­ports, we raided the lodge and res­cued the woman,” said Dilip Sawant, deputy com­mis­sioner of police, crime.

The woman had been work­ing there for the past sev­eral months. She has been sent to a re­mand home.

The ar­rested manger has been iden­ti­fied as Trib­hu­van Pashi, 42.

He has been booked un­der sec­tions 370 of the In­dian Pe­nal Code (IPC) and sec­tions 3, 4 and 5 of Pre­ven­tion of Im­moral Traf­fick­ing Act (PITA).

“All ho­tels, lodges, bars and spas have been kept un­der sur­veil­lance in the city. We ap­peal to res­i­dents to in­form us if they get to know about any il­licit ac­tiv­ity go­ing on in their neigh­bour­hood. The iden­tity of the in­form­ers will be kept se­cret,” Sawant added.
