Flesh racket busted, lodge manager arrested
The Vashi police have arrested the manager of the lodge on Wednesday, for allegedly running flesh trade.
Acting on a tip-off, the police raided Darshan lodge at Sector 11 in Juhugaon and made the arrest. A woman, who was forced into prostitution by the accused, has been rescued.
“We received information that a flesh racket was being run from the lodge. We sent two of our officers posing as customers. After getting confirmed reports, we raided the lodge and rescued the woman,” said Dilip Sawant, deputy commissioner of police, crime.
The woman had been working there for the past several months. She has been sent to a remand home.
The arrested manger has been identified as Tribhuvan Pashi, 42.
He has been booked under sections 370 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 3, 4 and 5 of Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA).
“All hotels, lodges, bars and spas have been kept under surveillance in the city. We appeal to residents to inform us if they get to know about any illicit activity going on in their neighbourhood. The identity of the informers will be kept secret,” Sawant added.
