A 23-year-old man from Kopar Khairane, who would molest women at railway stations, has been arrested by Vashi GRP on Saturday.

According to the police, Sunil Khade, a bus driver of a private school, would wait in the staircase of railway stations in the peak hours and would molest women commuters, taking advantage of the morning and evening rush.

“Just a few days ago, he molested a woman. A case was lodged. Later, we realized that he had done it earlier too and we registered a complaint against him. We then laid a trap to arrest him at different stations and deployed our officials in civil dresses,” said Pramod Dhawade, senior police inspector of Vashi GRP.

Taking help of the CCTV cameras installed in the station, the police finally managed to arrest him at Kopar Khairane. He has been booked under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He is now in police custody.

“We are trying to find out if he has any other accomplices with him. So far we have not found any criminal record of him,” he said.
