Two jawans, two mil­i­tants killed in J&K as Army foils in­fil­tra­tion bid

Two sol­diers and two mil­i­tants were killed in a gun­fight in Kash­mir’s Kup­wara dis­trict on Satur­day, as the army said it foiled yet an­other in­fil­tra­tion bid along the Line of Con­trol from Pak­istan.

“Alert troops in­ter­cept ter­ror­ists at­tempt­ing to in­fil­trate in the in­ter­ven­ing night of 29-30 July. In an en­su­ing gun­fight, two ter­ror­ists killed. Two sol­diers at­tained mar­tyr­dom. One was sol­dier in­jured,’’ said an army spokesper­son in Srinagar.

Two AK-47 ri­fles were re­cov­ered, he said.

The in­fil­tra­tion bid came days af­ter the NIA ar­rested a sus­pected Pak­istani na­tional who en­tered In­dia to at­tack se­cu­rity forces Army per­son­nel take po­si­tion at the site of the en­counter in Kup­wara dis­trict of Jammu & Kash­mir on Satur­day.
