Cops clueless about missing Wadala man
Ten days after they left home, the police have not been able to trace Wadala resident Irshad Khan, 35, who went missing with his five-yearold daughter.
His daughter’s body was found near a creek at Nhava Sheva in Navi Mumbai on Sunday.
On July 21, Khan texted his wife that he had killed his daughter and that he was going to commit suicide. After a few hours, he sent a suicide note to around 300 contacts on WhatsApp stating that his wife had extramarital affair and that she had been harassing him. He mentioned in the note that he was going to commit suicide with his daughter.
The police suspect that Khan killed his daughter and threw body into the Vashi creek. He then jumped off the Vashi bridge. His bike was found from near the old bridge on the day he and his daughter went missing.
Rukmini Galande, senior police inspector of Nhava Sheva police station, said, “Even as we alerted all the fishermen of the area, they have not been able to find the body so far. The Wadala police are investigating the case.”
A police officer from Wadala police station said, “The CCTV footage of Vashi toll naka has shown a man with a girl on his shoulder that night. The man was walking towards the bridge. But, the footages are not so clear and hence we are yet to come to a conclusion.”
