MSRTC bus rams into tanker, nine in­jured

Nine peo­ple were in­jured af­ter a MSRTC bus rammed into a pe­tro­leum tanker at Ka­pur­bawdi in Thane on Thurs­day.

The in­jured pas­sen­gers were taken to Thane civil hos­pi­tal.

Three were ad­mit­ted to the hos­pi­tal while oth­ers were dis­charged af­ter first-aid treat­ment.

The MSRTC ( Ma­ha­ras­tra State Road Trans­port Cor­po­ra­tion) bus was go­ing to Thane from Jawa­har.

The driver of the bus, ,35, was ar­rested and was booked un­der rel­e­vant sec­tions. He is res­i­dent of Thane district.

Fif­teen pas­sen­gers were in bus.

A po­lice con­sta­ble from Ka­pur­bawdi po­lice sta­tion said: “The bus driver said he ap­plied brakes but it was too late. He was not drunk.”

“Dur­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tion, it was found that the tanker ahead ap­plied brake all of sud­den to avoid dash­ing into a car. The bus driver too braked sud­denly. We are tak­ing the state­ment of the driver and we will booked him un­der rel­e­vant sec­tions. Nine pas­sen­gers have been in­jured,” said the po­lice.
