Na­tional award for NMMC city en­gi­neer

The MIDC is un­der­tak­ing ur­gent re­pair and main­te­nance work at its Barvi wa­ter fil­tra­tion plant at Jamb­hul.

Hence, there will be a 12 hour shut­down of wa­ter sup­ply by it on Fri­day (Au­gust 12) from 8 am to 8 pm.

As a re­sult of the shut­down, the NMMC ar­eas of Nerul, Turbhe, Kopar Khairane, Ghan­soli, Airoli and Digha, which re­ceive wa­ter sup­ply in gaothans and slums through di­rect con­nec­tions and also nodal area of Airoli, will not re­ceive any wa­ter sup­ply dur­ing this pe­riod.

An NMMC of­fi­cial said, “The res­i­dents need to make a note that wa­ter sup­ply will be re­stored af­ter the 12-hour shut­down pe­riod but with low pres­sure.”

The wa­ter de­part­ment of Navi Mum­bai Mu­nic­i­pal Cor­po­ra­tion (NMMC) has ap­pealed to the res­i­dents to use wa­ter ju­di­ciously dur­ing th­ese hours and co­op­er­ate with NMMC. An­i­mal lover Hitesh Karan­javkar res­cued an In­dian Rock Python from Dur­gadi Reti Bun­der on Tues­day and handed it to Ad­har­wadi fire bri­gade per­son­nel.

The In­sti­tute of En­gi­neers (In­dia), a re­puted or­gan­i­sa­tion in the field of en­gi­neer­ing, has pre­sented NMMC city en­gi­neer Mo­han Da­gaonkar with ‘Em­i­nent En­gi­neer­ing Per­son­al­ity’ award.

The award was pre­sented at the 32nd na­tional con­ven­tion of en­vi­ron­men­tal en­gi­neers held in Pune ear­lier this week by Pim­pri Chinch­wad mu­nic­i­pal com­mis­sioner Di­nesh Wagh­mare.

The na­tional award has been given for Da­gaonkar’s work over the years in the field of en­vi­ron­men­tal en­gi­neer­ing.

“My en­deav­our has al­ways been the de­vel­op­ment of Navi Mum­bai as an eco-city. All the de­vel­op­ment that I have planned has been with the per­spec­tive of best the en­vi­ron­ment can be ben­e­fited and con­served,” said Da­gaonkar.
