Extortion case against BJP leader
The support extended by a local BJP woman leader to a woman in Kharghar over taking possession of a flat has proved dear for them. The Kharghar police has registered cases of theft, threat and extortion against them.
Simran Misra and Deepak Chawla lived at Premises Residency at Sector 11 in Kharghar. Simran took tuition classes of Chawla. Last year, she offered to sell her flat to Chawla following which they signed a sale agreement. Chawla took possession of the flat.
According to Chawla, in February this year, Simran, her mother and two boys along with BJP Mahila Morcha wing vicepresident Amita Gupta allegedly broke open Chawla’s flat’s door.
They reportedly stole some goods from the house and also tried to take possession of the house. Chawla has claimed that they also demanded money.
Though Chawla had complained about the issue to the police, the accused had not been arrested. The police had said that they were not traceable.
Last week, Simran and her mother Gurjeet were arrested. On Saturday, Chawla showed the DCP Vishwas Pandhare, video footage of Gupta being present at an opening of a college.
Senior police inspector of Kharghar police station Dilip Kale took Gupta into custody on Saturday.
A Kharghar police officer said, “Gupta was remanded in judicial custody by the court on Sunday. However, she had to be admitted to hospital for health reasons.”
