Robbers take away jewellery worth `7L
A 40-year-old woman from Kalyan was robbed of Rs30,000 in a mall in Kalyan on Monday.
The police are going through the CCTV footage to trace the accused and are also taking details of history-sheeters.
“The mall in Netavli at Kolshewadi was crowded as it was Independence day. The woman was carrying Rs30,000 cash. After some time, she realised that her purse which contained Rs30,000 was not in her plastic bag,” said a police officer from Kolshewadi police station.
She told the police that a man had been following her in the mall and suspected he might have robbed her purse. “We have asked the mall to give us the CCTV footage,” said the police officer.
A family from Naupada returned after a long weekend and found that their house was robbed of valuables worth Rs7 lakh. The family went out of town on August 13 and returned on August 15.
G Kabdule, senior police inspector from Naupada police station, said, “They returned on Tuesday to see that the grille in the bathroom was broken and cupboard was open. Jewellery worth Rs7.27 lakh including cash was missing.”
Vishesh Kavdi, 30, whose house was robbed, works in Mumbai with a private firm.
“The accused entered the house after breaking the bathroom grille on the first floor. We checked the CCTV footage, in which, the accused is seen entering and leaving the building. We have lodged a case,” said Kavdi.
Kabdule said, “After going through the CCTV footage, we detained two suspects and took their fingerprints. The neighbours did not hear any noise.”
The police will also go through the list of history-sheeters to trace the accused.
“One should inform the neighbours and the watchman before going out of town. Residents should also check if all windows and door are locked properly,” added Kabdule.
