2 weeks on, no headway in `6-cr Nerul robbery
It has been almost two weeks since a gang of six people looted a finance company of cash and gold worth Rs 6 crore in Nerul. The city police have not been able to arrest anyone so far.
Suspecting it to be an inside job, the police interrogated some employees of the company for the next few days of the incident. The officers are unable to gather concrete evidence against them.
Dilip Sawant, deputy commissioner of police (crime) said, “We are exploring different angles but we can’t disclose anything at this moment as that might hamper our investigations.”
Two days after the robbery, the police found the white Swift D’zire car abandoned in Kalamboli. It was learnt that the car was stolen from Wadala in February. Even as the culprits used fake car registration number, the police traced its original owner through its engine number.
“We found the monkey caps and an empty container of the bundles of the notes in the car,” said Dhanraj Dayama, assistant commissioner of police.
The culprits looted the company of 23kg gold and Rs9 lakh cash on August 6.
