Hindustan Times ST (Mumbai) - HT Navi Mumbai Live - - NAVI MUMBAI -

Panvel RTO that generates Rs300 crore revenue every year has sent a proposal to Raigad collector demanding a track for the testing of heavy and very heavy vehicles for issuance of fitness certificates to them.

The proposal seeks 9 acres near Shirdhon village, along Mumbai-Goa highway, for the track. The proposal was sent by the RTO to the revenue department. At present, transporters have to bring vehicles to the open plots in Kharghar for fitness certificate verification.

The high court has instructed the RTO to have independent tracks for verifying vehicle fitness. An RTO official said, “We are hopeful that the plot will be allotted to us at the earliest for the track to be developed.”
