Two snatch `1 lakh jew­ellery from devo­tee MAN DIES WHILE PLAY­ING DHOL

The Khan­desh­war po­lice have reg­is­tered a case after two uniden­ti­fied per­sons snatched a man­gal­su­tra worth Rs1.10 lakh from one woman on Wed­nes­day. Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice, Savita Dhond­kar, 45, a res­i­dent of New Pan­vel was go­ing to per­form bha­jan at a Gan­pati man­dal around 1.50 pm. Two uniden­ti­fied per­sons came on a bike and stopped near her.

“As the woman did not know those two per­sons she avoided them and started walk­ing on the road. The per­son who was rid­ing pil­lion then snatched the A Gan­pati idol be­ing taken for im­mer­sion at Vashi on Thurs­day. man­gal­su­tra from her neck and then both of them sped away on the bike,” said one po­lice of­fi­cer from Khan­desh­war po­lice sta­tion.

The women started shout­ing for help, but there was no one to come for­ward then. She later went to the po­lice sta­tion and reg­is­tered an FIR. “We have booked the uniden­ti­fied ac­cused un­der sec­tions 392 and 34 of the In­dian Pe­nal Code (IPC). We hope to ar­rest them soon,” the po­lice of­fi­cer said.

The po­lice sources re­veal that chain snatch­ing cases have de­creased in the city al­most by 50% this year. The po­lice reg­is­tered 48 such cases so far this year against 90 cases reg­is­tered in the cor­re­spond­ing time last year.
