Ghod­bun­der ser­vice road opens for traf­fic

THANE: The Ghod­bun­der Ser­vice Road, go­ing to­wards Ka­pur­bawdi, has been opened for the pub­lic. The other side which con­nects Gaimukh is yet to be com­pleted.

The work of the ser­vice road had been stalled for more than nine years. The ser­vice road has eased traf­fic go­ing to­wards Mum­bai.

The Thane Mu­nic­i­pal Cor­po­ra­tion has com­pleted the widen­ing of three of the roads, i ncl ud­ing t he s e r vi c e road. Apart from the ser­vice road, the widen­ing of Sta­tion Road and Ka­pur­bawdi to Balkum road is also com­pleted and open for the pub­lic since Thurs­day evening.

San­deep Malvi, pub­lic re­la­tions of­fi­cer of TMC, said, “The ser­vice road is 7-km long and nine me­tres in width. It will ease the traf­fic go­ing to­wards Mum­bai. We have also com­pleted the widen­ing of the Thane sta­tion road and de­con­gested it.”

The sta­tion road was ear­lier 7m wide and has been widened to 15 me­tres. The length of the road from Jam­bli Naka to Ashok Talkies is 870 me­tres. “Apart from widen­ing, we will also beau­tify the road. Within 15 days, the road will be dot­ted with at­trac­tive dust­bins, lights, sig­nage and seat­ing ar­range­ment,” Malvi added.

Ka­pur­bawdi to Balkum Road has been widened. It is 1.2 kilo­me­tres long and nine me­tres wide.
