Ghodbunder service road opens for traffic
THANE: The Ghodbunder Service Road, going towards Kapurbawdi, has been opened for the public. The other side which connects Gaimukh is yet to be completed.
The work of the service road had been stalled for more than nine years. The service road has eased traffic going towards Mumbai.
The Thane Municipal Corporation has completed the widening of three of the roads, i ncl uding t he s e r vi c e road. Apart from the service road, the widening of Station Road and Kapurbawdi to Balkum road is also completed and open for the public since Thursday evening.
Sandeep Malvi, public relations officer of TMC, said, “The service road is 7-km long and nine metres in width. It will ease the traffic going towards Mumbai. We have also completed the widening of the Thane station road and decongested it.”
The station road was earlier 7m wide and has been widened to 15 metres. The length of the road from Jambli Naka to Ashok Talkies is 870 metres. “Apart from widening, we will also beautify the road. Within 15 days, the road will be dotted with attractive dustbins, lights, signage and seating arrangement,” Malvi added.
Kapurbawdi to Balkum Road has been widened. It is 1.2 kilometres long and nine metres wide.
The service road at Ghodbunder was opened for traffic.
