Ex­plo­sion at chem­i­cal fac­tory in Bhi­wandi in­jures three

Fire brigade per­son­nel con­trol sit­u­a­tion; po­lice will take state­ments of the in­jured and the com­pany owner be­fore reg­is­ter­ing a case

BHI­WANDI: Al­most three weeks after a blast in a chem­i­cal fac­tory at Dom­bivli, a sim­i­lar ex­plo­sion in a Bhi­wandi fac­tory in­jured three work­ers on Fri­day.

The blast took place at Khemisati Pro House is at She­lar vil­lage in Bhi­wandi ru­ral. The fac­tory makes raw ma­te­ri­als for chem­i­cals.

There was no fire, said the po­lice.

The po­lice from Bhi­wandi ru­ral along with fire brigade rush to the spot and res­cued the other work­ers.

The in­jured have been iden­ti­fied as Natayan Chin­naya Bare, 55, Mun­nawar Shaikh, 23, and Vi­nay Ramvi­las Singh, 42.

All three are res­i­dents of Bhi­wandi ru­ral area and they work as labour­ers.

A po­lice source said that more than a dozen work­ers work in the fac­tory but they man­aged to run out of the fac­tory after the blast.

“The three in­jured are crit­i­cal and are be­ing treated at civil hospi­tal in Bhi­wandi. We are yet to take the fac­tory’s owner state­ment. There was no fire after the blast but the loud noise could be heard kilo­me­tres away. We have not yet reg­is­tered a case. We have taken note of the blast. We will take state­ments of the in­jured and ac­cord­ingly reg­is­ter a case,” said the po­lice.

On May 26, an ex­plo­sion in a chem­i­cal com­pany at Dom­bivli left 12 dead.

The blast was so loud that it was heard up to 3 kilo­me­tres, shat­ter­ing win­dow­panes of houses nearby. A case was lodged against the owner of the Probace En­ter­prise Pri­vate Lim­ited Com­pany.
