30-year-old man killed in hit and run in Kalyan

THANE: A 30-year-old man died in a road ac­ci­dent in Kalyan on Thurs­day in a hit and run.

The four-wheeler was a Chevro­let Tav­era and the driver fled af­ter hit­ting the man.

The ac­ci­dent hap­pened near Khade­golavli on ser­vice road at Kol­she­wadi.

Ravin­dra Vaishya, a res­i­dent of Kalyan who worked with a pri­vate firm, was go­ing to throw garbage on the other side of the road. While he was cross­ing the road, the car driver hit him.

A po­lice of­fi­cer from Kol­she­wadi po­lice sta­tion, “Vaishya was taken to a nearby hos­pi­tal and shifted to Sion hos­pi­tal but he died. We have reg­is­tered a case and that we have taken state­ment of a youth. We are trac­ing the car owner.” in the district died on PashanKarav road in Am­bar­nath teshil af­ter the truck in which they were trav­el­ling over­turned.

The in­ci­dent hap­pened last af­ter­noon, Kul­gaon po­lice said.

The vic­tims were rid­ing on a truck car­ry­ing ce­ment bags.

The ve­hi­cle skid on a wet road in the heavy rain and fell into a pit by the road­side.

The vic­tims were crushed un­der the ce­ment bags.

The bod­ies have been sent for au­topsy while the truck driver Ab­dul Gaf­far An­sari, 24, has been ar rested for rash and neg­li­gent driv­ing.
