ST BUS DRIVER HIT BY BIKE WHILE CROSSING ROAD DIES
THANE: A 53-year-old man was killed after a two-wheeler hit him while he was crossing the road at Naupada in Thane on Wednesday night.
The man, Rajendra Gulabrao Patil, a State Transport driver, was a resident of Shahpur.
T h e t wo - wh e e l e r r i d e r, Harpitsingh Singloiya, 24, was driving at 70 km per hour, said the police. The impact was such that Patil was thrown into the air and fell on a parked car along the road. The pillion rider and Singloiya were unhurt. Singloiya is businessman from a Ghatkopar and deals in Ayurvedic medicine.
On Wednesday, Patil had a holiday had come to Thane for official work. He was crossing the road near Nitin Company towards Teen Haath naka when the speeding two-wheeler him.
Prashant Londhe, investigation officer from Naupada police station, said, “Patil was flung in the air and hit the bonnet of the car. Singloiya’s friend, Gurjeet Gujral, who is in his 20s, suffered few scratches and cramps as he was sitting pillion.”
Londhe added, “Singloiya was released on bail.”
