ST BUS DRIVER HIT BY BIKE WHILE CROSS­ING ROAD DIES

THANE: A 53-year-old man was killed after a two-wheeler hit him while he was cross­ing the road at Nau­pada in Thane on Wed­nes­day night.

The man, Ra­jen­dra Gu­la­brao Patil, a State Trans­port driver, was a res­i­dent of Shah­pur.

T h e t wo - wh e e l e r r i d e r, Harpits­ingh Sin­gloiya, 24, was driv­ing at 70 km per hour, said the po­lice. The im­pact was such that Patil was thrown into the air and fell on a parked car along the road. The pil­lion rider and Sin­gloiya were un­hurt. Sin­gloiya is busi­ness­man from a Ghatkopar and deals in Ayurvedic medicine.

On Wed­nes­day, Patil had a hol­i­day had come to Thane for of­fi­cial work. He was cross­ing the road near Nitin Com­pany to­wards Teen Haath naka when the speed­ing two-wheeler him.

Prashant Londhe, in­ves­ti­ga­tion of­fi­cer from Nau­pada po­lice sta­tion, said, “Patil was flung in the air and hit the bon­net of the car. Sin­gloiya’s friend, Gur­jeet Gu­jral, who is in his 20s, suf­fered few scratches and cramps as he was sit­ting pil­lion.”

Londhe added, “Sin­gloiya was re­leased on bail.”
