UGC asks universities to revise syllabi at least once in 3 years
MUMBAI: The University Grants Commission(UGC)hasaskeduniversitiestorevisetheirsyllabusof all the programmes at least once in three years.
This move will complement the interdisciplinary nature of degree programs available in many universities across the country and also keep students abreast with the latest developments in their field of education.
“In a world changing at breakneck speed, any conceptual inno- vations and technological breakthroughs are subjected to further altercations and upgradation. Regular revision of academic curricula is the only efficient way to address the growing industry demands,” states the circular releasedbyUGCearlierthisweek. It further stresses on the fact that the ultimate goal of all universitiesandcollegesshouldbetomake their students more employable after education.
The decision to ask universities to revise syllabi more often comes after a meeting of senior officials from the education and social development departments with PM Narendra Modi.
