MUM­BAI: A 26-year-old man was ar­rested on Satur­day for mo­lest­ing a six-year-old girl at Vikhroli.

The Park­site po­lice claimed the girl’s mother saw the ac­cused pulling her daugh­ter’s hand and forc­ing her to go with him into a for­est.

The mother alerted other neigh­bours and they caught the ac­cused and handed him over to the po­lice.

The ac­cused, Dhar­men­dra Nishad, a daily wage labourer, lives in Powai along with his fam­ily.

A po­lice team that was on pa­trolling duty rushed to the spot af­ter get­ting in­for­ma­tion and brought the ac­cused to the po­lice sta­tion.

“Af­ter record­ing the girl and her mother’s state­ment, we ar­rested the ac­cused for mo­lesta­tion and un­der the Pro­tec­tion of Chil­dren from Sex­ual Of­fences (POCSO) Act,” said se­nior in­spec­tor Ra­jen­dra Kulka­rni of the Park­site po­lice sta­tion.
