Cops: No evidence against Salman Khan’s bodyguard
The DN Nagar police, which had registered a case against Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s bodyguard Gurmeet Singh, better known as Shera, and three of his aides for allegedly assaulting a 25-year-old, have said the allegations against Shera are false. They are likely to file a ‘B summary’ report in the case, which means there is no evidence against the suspect.
The report will be filed in the Andheri magistrates court, which will decide if the investigation is to be reopened. If not, the court will admit the report. “This seems to be a false case. We did not find evidence against Shera. None of the allegations were found to be true,” a police officer told HT. Shera lives at Seven Bungalows on JP Road. The complainant, Athar Gulam Ansari, is a resident of Vile Parle (West) and works at a mobile repair store.
On October 26, 2016, the DN Nagar police detained Shera, his driver and two bodyguards for allegedly assaulting Ansari and two of his friends in Andheri. They said Shera fractured Ansari’s collarbone. Police said a scuffle took place at 2 am on Link Road. Ansari and his friends, identified only as Javed and Valentine, were driving an Audi and Ansari was on the phone with a man identified only as ‘Ajay bhai’. Ansari spotted Shera and told Ajay that he was in the area.
Ansari said Ajay Bhai told him to give the phone to Shera. He got out of the car and did that. Ajay and Shera allegedly abused each other and then Shera abused Ansari for giving him the phone. This led to a heated argument and a scuffle. “Ansari said Shera pulled out a pistol and hit him on the shoulder repeatedly. Shera’s bodyguard allegedly hit Ansari on his shoulder with another sharp object,” said the officer.
Ansari and his friends went to Cooper Hospital for treatment. They approached the DN Nagar police station at 5.20 am. Shera and his aides were detained but they denied all allegations. Shera said Ansari was trying to defame him.
