Hindustan Times ST (Mumbai) - - WORLD - Agencies

Jamie Vardy extended his hot scoring streak to ease champion Leicester’s Premier League relegation fears with a 1-0 win at West Bromwich.

With only a second away win, Leicester moved nine points clear of the bottom three with four matches remaining.

Vardy struck in the 43rd minute for his eighth goal in 12 matches since Craig Shakespeare replaced Claudio Ranieri as manager.

MOYES’ SUNDERLAND RELEGATED

David Moyes’ Sunderland were relegated from the Premier League after a 1-0 home defeat against Bournemouth.

Allied to Hull City’s 0-0 draw at Southampton, the result left Sunderland 13 points adrift of safety with only 12 points to play for this season.

Josh King scored the late goal that condemned Sunderland to the Championship.

Southampton had a chance to give Sunderland a stay of execution, but Dusan Tadic’s stoppage-time penalty was saved by Hull goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic.
