32yearold driver dies after ramming auto into divider at Vikhroli off EEH

MUMBAI: A 32-year-old autoricksh­aw driver died on Sunday after he crashed his three-wheeler into the divider on the service road off the Eastern Express Highway (EEH) at Vikhroli.

According to the Vikhroli police, the victim, Ayaz Shaikh, was driving his auto on the northbound stretch of the highway late on Sunday night, when he is suspected to have lost control over his vehicle. “He sustained grievous injuries on his head, chest and hands because of the collision,” said an officer. Shaikh was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Police said Shaikh was driving negligentl­y.

A case was registered against him under section 279 and 304 A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
