More un­cer­tainty over ex­ten­sion of Ramzan ‘cease­fire’

NEW DELHI: No for­mal and fi­nal de­ci­sion has so far been taken on whether the Ramzan pause on oper­a­tions against mil­i­tants in Jammu and Kash­mir will con­tinue af­ter Eid, which will be ob­served this week­end, gov­ern­ment of­fi­cials fa­mil­iar with the mat­ter said. “Any de­ci­sion to ex­tend it or end it, will be taken at the po­lit­i­cal level. So far no de­ci­sion has been taken,” said a gov­ern­ment of­fi­cial fa­mil­iar with the mat­ter. The killing of Shu­jaat Bukhari on Thursday will have a bear­ing on the de­ci­sion.
