Biker stalks and molests 23-yr-old twice in an hour
MUMBAI: In an incident that raises serious concerns over women’s safety, a 23-year-old woman was molested twice in an hour by an unidentified biker near Mary Immaculate Girls’ High School in Borivli (West).
According to the MHB colony police, the incident took place at around 8.50pm on Monday when the woman had walked out of a pizza outlet along with a female friend.
When the women reached Santvani Road near Mary Immaculate Girls’ High School, a man on a bike sped close to them, groped the complainant’s chest and fled even before the woman could shout for help. The biker’s face was hidden as he was wearing a helmet.
Shocked, the women decided to rush home. However, the complainant, a resident of a housing society in Borivli (West), had no idea that the accused had not fled, but was stalking her all the way.
Around 20 minutes later, just as she was about to enter her building, the accused sped behind them, groped her from the back and fled.
The woman then approached the MHB colony police station and a first information report (FIR) was registered under Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2013 (amended Indian Penal Code sections) for stalking and sexual harassment.
An officer from MHB colony police station said, “We are trying our best to trace the accused. We have checked the CCTV footage
but have not been able to get the registration number of the bike.”
“He seems to be of a crooked mentality. We will trace him before he targets other women,” the officer added.
